Department of Music Education
The department "Music education" of the South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University n.a. O. Zhanibekov was founded in 1994 on the basis of the Shymkent Pedagogical Institute named after M. Auezov with a degree in cultural and leisure work. From 1994 to 2015, the department was headed by qualified and educated specialists. Today the department employs 23 teachers, including: 2 doctor of sciences, professor, 3 candidates of sciences, 3 "cultural workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan", 8 "excellent students of the sphere of culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan". The basic education of all teachers meets the qualification requirements of educational activities.

The teachers of the department teach to play various musical instruments (dombra, kobyz, button accordion, bass dombra, piano), lead a children's choir, organize an orchestra of folk instruments and lead a folklore ensemble, sing in the Academic and pop directions.
