Department of Physical Education and Initial Military Training
In July 2011, by the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical Institute was established. On its basis, a number of faculties began to operate in popular specialties. Including the Faculty of "Sports and Art". The dean of the faculty was appointed Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor M.T. Temirkhanov, the Department of "Physical Culture and Sports" was active in the faculty. Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor N.B. Shegenbayev, managing it, made a great contribution to its formation and long-term development as an independent separate and integral link.
In 2013, the faculty was transformed and became known as the Faculty of "Physical Education and Military Training". The head of the updated structure was entrusted to the candidate of pedagogical Sciences, associate professor K. To Nakhanov. As for the department, the changes also affected her. It was renamed the Department of Physical Education and initial military training, slightly changing the range of directions. It was headed by the candidate of pedagogical Sciences U.Zh.Turyskulov.
From 2015 to 2018, the department was part of the professional and creative faculty. Since September 2018, a new faculty of "Physical Culture and Sports" has been established. Its dean was appointed Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate professor U.Zh. Turyskulov. The faculty has two departments. One of them in the direction of physical education and initial military training is currently headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate professor A.M. Ispandiyarova. From September 1, 2021, the Department of "Physical Education and initial military training" was divided into the departments of "Theory and methodology of physical culture" and "Initial military training and physical culture" due to the increase in the number of students accepted to the educational program 6B01402 - "Training of a teacher of physical culture and sports".

Now 26 people work at the department. Of them: 2 - PhD, professor, 6 - PhD, associate professor, 1-Candidate of Biological Sciences, 4 - Honored Coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan, associate professor, 5 - senior teachers, masters, 1 - senior teacher, 7 - teachers. The scientific potential of the department is 50%.
The department trains bachelors of education, masters of scientific and pedagogical direction in the following specialties:
1. 6B01402 - "Training of a teacher of physical culture and sports"
2. 7M01402 - "Preparation of the teacher of Physical culture and sports"
The teaching staff, along with the theoretical training of students, conducts a high-quality educational and training process, involving coaches of sports schools in it. There are also sports bases for various sports at your disposal. As a result of hard work, our students achieve great success at national and international competitions. The level of their training allows them to make forecasts and soberly assess the potential, boldly planning high prospects.
