Life of O. Zhanibekov

UZBEKALI ZHANIBEKOV

Uzbekali Zhanibekov (08.28.1931 02.22.1998) - statesman, ethnographer, candidate of historical sciences. He worked as Deputy Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan, Minister of Culture, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.

 

THE CAREER PATH OF U. ZHANIBEKOV

• School teacher, head of education in the Kelessky district of the Shymkent (now Turkestan) region (1952 1955);

• 1st Secretary of the Komsomol Committee of the Kelessky District (1955 1956);

• Secretary of the Komsomol committee of the Shymkent region (1956 1961);

• 1st Secretary, Secretary of the Central Committee of the LKZHO of Kazakhstan (1961  1970),

• Secretary of the Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan in the Torgai region (1970 – 1975);

• Head of the Department of Relations with Foreign Countries of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan (1975 1977);

• Deputy Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan (1977 1988); Minister of Culture (1987 1988);

• Worked as secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan (1988 1991).

 

PUBLIC SERVICES

• Zhanibekov made a significant contribution to the revival and development of national culture, native language, traditions and customs of the Kazakh people. Already in the 70s of the 20th century, Khoja Akhmet Yasawi became a catalyst for the restoration of the mausoleum.

• On the initiative of Zhanibekov, ethnographic museums were opened in many cities of Kazakhstan.

• The Arkas society was created, the purpose of which is to preserve and restore historical and cultural monuments of Kazakhstan.

• Zhanibekov “Sherter”, “Adyrna”, “Altynai” and others organized folk art ensembles.

• Actively participated in returning the Nauryz holiday to the people, the names of M. Dulatov, Zh. Aimautov, M. Zhumabaev, Sh. Kudaiberdiev.

• Participated in the development of the state concept of the program for the development of the native language.
