EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY

  1. Provision of the Department of Biology with documents defining the content of education (state standards, standard curricula, working curricula)

At the Department of Biology, educational programs 6B01505-Biology teacher training, 6B05101-Biology, 5B011300 - Biology and 5B060700-Biology are provided with the necessary instructional and regulatory documents: the state general education standard of education (SES RK), a standard curriculum, working curricula, educational programs (ЕP). Working curricula (syllabuses) have been developed on the basis of the OP approved by the Academic Council of the University. Developed working curricula (syllabuses) according to the disciplines taught, textbooks and teaching aids for students, teaching instructions were reviewed and approved at a meeting of the department and at the council of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Prepared and approved at the meeting of the department catalog of elective disciplines, UMKD for all educational programs. In all disciplines, during the semester, 1,2 -boundary and final controls are conducted and grades are given to the Univer training base. For the intermediate and final control of knowledge, test tasks were prepared and submitted to the office registration. Border control tickets and examination tickets were also prepared and submitted to the Dean's office. The quality and compliance with the curriculum of tests and written tickets were approved by the decision of the methodological commission of the department. The level of knowledge and educational indicators of students is controlled by the head of the department, the results of the examination session are summed up. Data on the quality and indicators of the current work of the department are compiled, taking into account the average scores of each group per session.

The university has computer classes and an Internet center. Here students are given the opportunity to work in both real and virtual modes. Currently, the department is actively working to provide educational, teaching and methodological literature (in English), in particular, work is underway to purchase literature in the printing houses of Almaty and Astana through the library.

 

  1. Provision of the disciplines of the department with standard curricula, curricula and working curricula. Individual curricula and catalog of elective disciplines

According to OP 6B01505-Biology teacher training and 6B05101-Biology, compulsory subjects are provided with state standards. In the disciplines of Introduction to Biology, Plant Anatomy and Morphology, Invertebrate Zoology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Genetic Engineering, Innovative Technologies, Organization of the learning process at school and pedagogical skills, Evolutionary Teaching, Methods of Teaching Biology, Microbiology and Virology, Physiology of Microorganisms, Human Anatomy, Human and Animal Physiology, structure and content of Modern, Biology in high school (structure and content of modern biology), Cytology and Histology (Cytology and Histology), Anatomy and morphology of plants, Zoology of invertebrates has developed working curricula. The quality of working curricula developed in the disciplines at the department meets the educational and methodological requirements of the university. The plan of educational and methodical work was discussed and approved at the meeting of the department, educational and methodical work is carried out in accordance with the plan of educational and methodical work and the individual plan of teachers.

 

3. Information on the professional development of teachers

In the 2020-2021 academic year, a total of 12 teaching staff were upgraded at the department, including according to the program of seminars "Altynsarin courses" of the I. Altynsarin NBA, 2 teachers on the course "Management in Education", according to the educational program of advanced training of university teaching staff, training of teaching staff within the framework of updating the content of secondary education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, developed by the Center for Pedagogical Excellence of the AEO "Nazarbayev Intellectual School" - 2 teachers, in the center "GYLYMNUR" of the MKTU named after H.Yassaui on increasing the qualifications of teaching staff- 10 teachers.

 

4. Implementation and evaluation of the student's independent work

A special place in the credit system of education is occupied by independent work of students (SRS). SRS is one of the main elements of the educational process that contribute to the sustainability of the student's knowledge, skills and abilities. By performing the SRS, the student becomes an active participant in the educational process and acquires skills that can freely, argumentatively express their thoughts.

The technology of organizing and receiving SRS consists of the following stages:

- SRS planning;

- Providing methodological recommendations;

- Monitoring and evaluation, analysis and further development of the SRS.

The SRO consists of two parts:

- from independent work performed by a student under the guidance of a teacher (SRSP),

- from independent work of a student (SRS).

In accordance with the provisions on the introduction of credit technology, the amount allocated for the SRSP should be at least the time allotted for classroom classes. The allotted time of the SRSP is included in the load of the teacher and is considered at the meeting of the department and is conducted according to the schedule. The planned topics are the term and form, time, volume of admission, etc. the information should be reflected in the work plan compiled by the teacher for each discipline and in the teaching and methodological documents of the department. When choosing the form and type of SRS for each discipline, it is necessary to take into account the purpose and objectives of the discipline being studied, the preparation of students and the number of hours allotted for SRS. The work is carried out on the basis of the schedule approved by the head of the department. Independent work of the student is an important part of the educational activity.

 

5. On the use of new and active innovative teaching methods and technical means of teaching by teachers of the department. Mutual attendance of the lesson and methodological analysis. About open lessons.

Systematic work has been carried out at the Department of Biology in the field of introduction of modern pedagogical technologies and new teaching methods and activation of cognitive activity of students. Classes with presentations and interactive teaching methods were regularly held on the ZOOM online platform. Also, lectures, practical and laboratory classes were conducted using not only theoretical, but also visual videos. In order to increase the content and quality of lectures, laboratory and practical classes in the disciplines conducted at the Department of Biology, a schedule of mutual visits and visits to open classes by the teaching staff has been drawn up. Mutual attendance of classes by the head of the department and teachers has been carried out since the beginning of the academic year. According to the schedule, appointed members of the commission are present at each lesson of the teaching staff. The teaching staff recorded the analysis of the classes they attended in a special journal of mutual visits.

The schedule of attendance at open classes is based on the curriculum of the department at the beginning of the academic year. It paid attention to achievements, shortcomings, visual aids used, at what level innovative methods were mastered. The teaching staff of the department uses modern pedagogical technologies in their classes. In particular:

1. methods of organizing educational and cognitive activity and improving thinking, attention, perception, imagination;

2. methods that cause a problematic situation;

3. group work and methods of relationship management between them.

4. methods aimed at increasing cognitive activity.

5. methods of motivational and competence-based learning.

6. the method of discussions in various formats;

7. the Case study method (analysis of specific situations).

In addition, videos, presentations, animation are used in all teaching staff classes, lectures are held in the form of conferences.

6. About the work of scientific-methodological and methodological sections and seminars at the departments

According to the educational and methodical work at the department at the beginning of the academic year, the plan of educational and methodical work was approved. The plan includes innovative works, a plan for publishing teaching aids of the teaching staff of the department, electronic textbooks, a schedule for open lessons, a schedule for mutual attendance of classes and a plan for organizing field practice. The plan of innovative work includes the preparation of electronic textbooks and methods of their application in lectures and laboratory classes, the use of multimedia devices, as well as conducting classes on several topics using innovative methods and techniques.

The department held an educational and methodological webinar on the topic "Zhanartylgan bilim beru ayasynda bilim mazmunyn zhanart zhane okytudyn tiimdiligin arttyru zholdary". The webinar was aimed at solving theoretical problems and problems taken from everyday life from the point of view of the future profession. During the seminar, colleagues talked about how to independently replenish new knowledge, improve. According to the plan of methodological work, the issues of quality and preparation of work programs of disciplines, syllabuses, the implementation and quality of the publication of methodological manuals, the provision of disciplines with teaching aids, the introduction of innovative approaches to the educational process, the quality of examination, test, test tasks, the organization and conduct of field practice, etc. are considered.

 

7. About the quality of educational and methodical work performed at the department (textbook, textbook, teaching aid, syllabus, guidelines for laboratory, practical work).

The teaching staff has prepared textbooks, teaching aids, instructions, syllabuses, UMKD, guidelines for laboratory, practical work, theses, professional practice programs. The prepared textbooks and teaching aids, etc. were discussed at the meetings of the department, faculty and were submitted to the educational and methodological Council of the university.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, according to the plan of educational and methodical work of the department, 12 textbooks, 3 teaching aids, 12 methodological guidelines, 5 collections of lectures were completed, 1 monograph and 3 textbooks were published outside the plan.
