Research name: The linguocultural phenomenon of internet resources: the
effectiveness
of using podcasting in the russian language
Benefits of research: Podcasts support the growth of every area of language, including grammar, pronunciation, writing, listening, and speaking ability. In addition, this tool improves the listening comprehension capacity of learners and boosts motivation for learning. Listeners learn speech patterns, linguistic intonation, and structures of words and grammar in a natural and transparent manner.
Brief description of the study: The present work is dedicated to the effective application of podcasts as an instructional method of teaching a foreign language, Russian. There were involved a total of 110 philology students at the Zhanibekov University. They not only heard podcasts in class twice a week, but also on their own for a period of 4.5 months.
Throughout the research, both pre- and
post-tests were administered to the students, and the results were compared.
The results showed that listening to the podcasts enhanced the listening,
pronunciation, grammar, and written skills of the students. In addition to
this, they were more motivated to learn, and they gained a better command of
Russian, as revealed by a 24% rise in the number of students achieving C1.
The research proved that the incorporation of podcasts into learning will facilitate overcoming the barrier of languages and supporting the self-instructional language learning capacity of learners.
